How many Burger Shop locations are there?
Two, on opposite sides of the Des Moines metro. Burger Shop Altoona is inside the Outlets of Des Moines food court, 545 Bass Pro Dr NW, Suite 670. Burger Shop Clive, the original, is at 1255 NW 128th St, Suite 100. Each has its own kitchen, phone, hours, prices and online ordering, so choose the right one before you order.
I ordered from the wrong location. What should I do?
Call the shop you ordered from right away; both phone numbers are in the footer below. An order placed with one kitchen cannot be picked up at the other. Your confirmation shows the location name and address at the top.
What are the hours?
Altoona: Monday to Thursday 10 AM to 7 PM, Friday and Saturday 10 AM to 8 PM, Sunday 12 PM to 6 PM. Clive: Monday to Saturday 11 AM to 9 PM, Sunday 11 AM to 3 PM. Holiday hours can differ, so call ahead.
What areas is Burger Shop near?
Burger Shop Altoona is in the Outlets of Des Moines food court, close to Pleasant Hill, Bondurant and Ankeny. Burger Shop Clive is on NW 128th Street, close to Urbandale, West Des Moines, Waukee and Johnston. Both shops do pickup and delivery; delivery is free on orders of $20 or more when you order direct, and checkout confirms whether your address is in range.
Are the menus and prices the same at both locations?
Mostly the same burgers. Prices may vary by location: a Classic Cheeseburger starts at $7.25. Clive also has a Philly Cheesesteak, Reuben Sandwich, Patty Melt, a burger of the month and milkshakes; Altoona has the Double Cheeseburger and Black Bean Veggie Burger. The menu page shows each location's own prices.
Do you offer delivery or takeout?
Both locations do pickup and delivery. Delivery is free on orders of $20 or more when you order direct, and Clive orders of $17 or more also get $4 off. Choose your location to order online; checkout confirms whether your address is in range.
Is Burger Shop the same as Burger Shed?
No. Burger Shed is a separate sit-down restaurant at 500 Bass Pro Dr NW in Altoona. Burger Shop is the counter-service burger spot inside the Outlets of Des Moines food court, Suite 670, and on NW 128th Street in Clive.
What are you known for?
Fresh, hand-pattied burgers grilled to order. Favorites include the Classic Cheeseburger, Egg Burger, Hawaiian Burger and Diablo Burger, plus the Iowa pork tenderloin and Classic Crispy Chicken Sandwich. Our Clive shop was Yelp's top cheeseburger restaurant in Iowa in 2023.
Is there seating?
Yes. In Altoona you order at the counter and sit in the Outlets of Des Moines food court. Clive has booths inside and a fenced patio out front.
Do you have vegetarian or lighter options?
Both shops have a Turkey Burger, salads, a side salad and grilled cheese. Altoona also has a Black Bean Veggie Burger.
Do you have a kids menu?
Yes, at both. Kids meals are $7.50: a cheeseburger, chicken nuggets, mini corn dogs or mac and cheese, each with a small side of fries and a drink.
Do you cater?
Yes. Both kitchens pack cheeseburgers, chicken sandwiches, tenders and sides for teams, offices and parties. Send a catering request and pick Altoona or Clive, or call the shop directly.
